This qualification is valid for 3 years. The Australian Resuscitation Councils recommends that CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) component of this course is renewed annually according to industry standards.
Practical training of CPR requires that trainees perform CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor and a child and infant manikin placed on a hard surface (in some situations, this may be the floor).
Trainees with special needs, either physical difficulties or literacy difficulties, should inform the trainer so that assistance can be arranged to meet their needs.
This course covers a broad range of topics to provide trainees with the knowledge and skills to confidently manage emergency situations, providing care for the ill or injured until medical aid arrives. It is suitable for workplaces and members of the public requiring training in first aid. It also provides the skills to recognise and then manage a casualty who is unconscious and is not breathing or not breathing normally.
This course provides the skills required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines; these skills apply to emergency situations within a diverse range of settings, including the workplace and the wider community. This course includes training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and the use of an AED (defibrillator). Successful completion of this course provides trainees with a more in-depth knowledge and range of skillsets to feel confident in providing a first aid response to a casualty in a range of emergency situations.
